Meant to shed light on how creativity persists through personal tribulations the film weaves through Tori’s life as she navigates her music career, a separation from her husband and caretaking for her mother who was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's. We see how it all affects her writing process and how the lines between personal and professional life blur as an artist.

THE ISLAND: Live Without Dead Time is an intimate feature documentary following filmmaker Chelo Álvarez-Stehle as she films her husband Mark Stehle’s final years while confronting terminal illness. As Mark pursues treatment between Barcelona and New York, handcrafted stop-motion animations bring his stories to life, illuminating fear, forgiveness, and acceptance. The discovery of a letter from J. Robert Oppenheimer to Mark’s father uncovers a legacy of inherited trauma, transforming a chronicle of dying into a moving story of reconciliation, rebirth, and living fully in the shadow of mortality.

After losing his job, his wife, and a reason to exist; Guy, a former accountant for a scandalous corporation, faces his demons through a tape-recorded piano lesson left in his father’s will.

After meeting with his father’s lawyer, Guy, a former accountant fired for fraudulent accounting, receives a collection of audiotapes marked as his father's will. He discovers the tapes come together to form a piano lesson his father recorded. Determined to play through the piano lesson and engage with the art form his estranged father seemed to care about more than anything, Guy not only comes to terms with his resentment towards his father but also finds a new outlook on himself.
